The knowledge of making colours from natural materials for use in dyeing and patterning cloth existed in India since ancient times. These very skills made Indian textiles famous beyond its shores. Natural dyes are eco-friendly and yield an extraordinary palette of colours. Rediscovering natural dyes in textiles is becoming necessary with an increased awareness and need for becoming environment friendly. It is DCC’s hope that those who have learnt this skill will subsequently share and help their own community or cluster to take this skill further and help ensure its continuity.
With this in mind, DCC hosted an exhibition of a special collection of sarees in natural dyes.
