Sarees of India
Delhi Crafts Council presents this annual exhibition celebrating the SAREE, a simple piece of fabric of six yards which has clothed women from every nook and corner of India for generations. It is a unique garment, perhaps without a parallel in the world. It is also central and critical to the development of the immense variety of textiles skills which can be found in the country today and which, in the last few decades, face the danger of being slowly wiped out. It is the Council's endeavour to bring the SAREE back into focus and enable some of our country's weavers, printers and dyers to showcase their outstanding skills.
