Covid-19 Artisans Help Fund

Dear Friends of DCC,

To understand the level of the adverse impact of the Coronavirus outbreak lock-down, members of the Delhi Crafts Council have been speaking to artisans we are in contact with. The feedback has been varied. Indeed, some have taken proactive steps to minimize the impact, but many are unsure of being able to make ends meet even over the coming few weeks.

The overwhelmingly huge number of affected crafts persons could be compared to the migrant workers; both spread across the country without a safety net for health, education or housing. Whilst we are approaching the Government to include artisans in their schemes for financial support and marketing, DCC is making an independent effort to create a fund to prepare for a situation that may turn critical in the coming months.

‘Covid-19 *Artisans* HELP FUND’ is being created by Delhi Crafts Council to help crafts persons tide over the difficult months ahead. We do feel that timely intervention will help in the survival of this sector which provides sustainable livelihoods to millions, mostly in rural areas. We appeal to you to support the Council with a donation. (You can avail of the benefit of our 80 G certification).

DCC, one of the oldest NGOs in this sector, has worked with several thousands of artisans and artisanal communities in a variety of programmes to help sustain and develop our crafts. We will ensure that the funds collected will be used prudently.

Our Bank account details are available in the attached pamphlet.

Look forward to a positive response.

Warm regards,

Team DCC
