It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the tragic demise of Shilp Guru Sardar Hussain due to covid.
He was a master craftperson (National Awardee) from Pilakhuwa, Uttar Pradesh and has also been awarded a number of other awards during his lifetime.
He was a fourth generation craftsman originally from Farrukhabad, who had mastered the intricate mughal technique of wood carving on blocks used for printing textiles. He successfully reinvented the craft by adding brass inlay and worked on a range of new products.
Assisted by his two sons, he established Sajawat Handicrafts in his hometown in Chhipiwara, Hapur District of Uttar Pradesh.
His association with Delhi Crafts Council is over three decades long. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family at this tragic moment.
